Affiliate News: Orange County SC Wins First Match of 2017
Coming from a 5-0-0 record in pre-season, The Orange County Soccer Club squad was looking to continue their winning streak against Reno 1868 FC during the first official match of the 2017 season. Coach Logan Pause chose a solid starting XI in a 4-4-2 formation. Goalkeeper, Charlie Lyon. Defensive Players: Oscar Sorto, Juan Pablo Ocegueda, Beto Navarro, & Salomon Wbias. Midfielders: Victor Pineda, Richard Chaplow, Gustavo Villalobos, & Carlos Alvarez. Forwards: Jerry vanEwijk and Duke Lacroix.
Orange County would be the one to put numbers on the scoreboard as Duke Lacroix opened up the scoring in the 31st minute of play by slotting a ball in from a beautifully placed cross from Carlos Alvarez. In first half stoppage time, Lacroix would receive a ball from Victor Pineda and he would take that ball past the Reno defender making his way to goal and firing off a shot into the far post, bringing Orange County to a 2-0 lead right before half time. The score would remain until the final whistle, giving OCSC their first win of the 2017 season. Great effort from a young team that seems to be jelling quite well. Excited to see what these guys can do this season!
